SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP AND CHILDREN'S CHURCH - APRIL 23, 2023

This Sunday, Pastor Brian Pinson will deliver the second half of the message on "The Helmet of Salvation", part of the sermon series "The Christian's Call to Arms!".  The first part of the message focused on "discouragement", and the second part of the message will focus on "doubt".  Satan uses this two-edged sword to attack our faith and assurance in Jesus, our Savior.  If Satan can manipulate our circumstances, which he does, and cause us to be discouraged, the next step is to cause us to doubt the love, mercy, and goodness of God.  When Jesus was tempted by Satan, Jesus always used the Word of God to cause the devil to flee.  "It is written..." is a very powerful phrase when we use the Scriptures in our stance against Satan.  That is why it is so important to read and study God's Word so that we can recall it at any moment.  Our minds and our focus must be on God, His Word, and His example for us.

Sunday Morning Worship and Children's Church - April 16, 2023

This coming Sunday, Pastor Brian Pinson will return to the sermon series "The Christian's Call to Arms!" based upon the Scriptures found in Ephesians 6:10-20.  This week's message will be focused on Ephesians 6:17a regarding "The Helmet of Salvation" in the Armor of God.  The Helmet of Salvation refers to a mind controlled by God and is, therefore, directed by His eternal Word.  It is only by having a mind that is in submission to God and His Word that we can resist the attacks of the devil and his minions, as well as persecutions by the world and the evidence of the fallen nature of the human flesh.  As believers, we must remember that the devil's primary goal is to undermine our faith and confidence in God, and the devil will usse any weapons as he can to cause us to doubt God's goodness and love towards us, His children.  Want to know more about how you can protect your mind to resist the devil's attacks?  We welcome you to join us this Sunday at 10:30 a.m., either in person or online, for the continuation of this in-depth sermons series on the Armor of God.   Spiritual victories do not exempt us from the enemy's sword of discouragement ... as God's people, we need the Lord's strength after a victory as much as we need it during the battle!  In this chaotic world, God is calling us to prepare for battle through the power of His Word!!!  Come join us!!

GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE AND EASTER SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE!!

Calvary Baptist Church will be holding a Good Friday Service at 6 p.m. on April 7th.  There will be special singing and Communion.  Come celebrate what Jesus Christ accomplished so we would have the opportunity to be redeemed!!!

On Easter Sunday, we will be celebrating Jesus' Resurrection!!  His resurrection was proof that He conquered death, hell, and the grave, and He ascended to the Father and now continually intercedes for us!!  Because of Him, we can have eternal life with Him!  Praise God!  Pastor Brian's message, "Blessed Tidings from the Easter Angel", will give deeper meaning of the empty tomb when the women went to anoint Jesus' body.  Mark 16:1-8 provides a beautiful picture of their astonishment when the angel told them the good news!  We invite you to join us for this special service, either in person or online.  Everyone is welcome!

PALM SUNDAY SERVICE - APRIL 2, 2023

"Following Jesus in Obedience: The New Beginning" - A Special Service for Children of All Ages!!!

This coming Sunday, we will be celebrating children of all ages.  The children will be singing.  Pastor Brian Pinson will present a special message just for them (and for the adults) about how to follow Jesus by being obedient to Him, using the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist as an example.  We will be celebrating two baptisms as well.  Mark 10:13-14 emphasizes the importance of bringing children to Him.  "And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them.  But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, 'Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.'"  Jesus holds children very precious in His sight ... we must never hesitate in teaching and leading our children to Him.  If you want to know more, please join us in person or online for this service.  Everyone is welcome!

MORNING WORSHIP AND CHILDREN'S CHURCH - MARCH 19, 2023

This Sunday, Pastor Brian Pinson will present Part II of his sermon "The Christian's Spiritual Armor - SHIELD OF FAITH".  Part I of the "SHIELD OF FAITH" message provided an in depth history of the purpose, design, and use of the shield in Roman warfare.  The shield was primarily used as a means of protection when the Roman army went into battle formation.  This week, the focus is "The Protection of the Shield of Faith" that God provides for us when we encounter spiritual attacks from the ruler of darkness - Satan.  Spiritual warfare is so intense that nothing can stand against it apart from God's divine power and strength working in us and through us.  God's Word gives us the means of "putting on" the whole armor of God by putting Him first and foremost in our lives.  He gives us His power and strength through praying for His will, reading His Word, believing in His promises, and being obedient to the leading by the Holy Spirit.

MORNING WORSHIP AND CHILDREN'S CHURCH - MARCH 12, 2023

This Sunday, Pastor Brian Pinson will be returning to the Book of Ephesians, Chapter 6 to continue the sermon series "THE CHRISTIAN'S CALL TO ARMS!".  This sermon will focus on the "SHIELD OF FAITH" found in Verse 16.  As believers, we are subject to come under attack at any moment from Satan and his demonic forces.  Spiritual warfare is real, and Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 that our weapons for warfare are "not of the flesh but have DIVINE POWER to destroy strongholds".  These trials come to strengthen our faith...can we continue to have faith in God and His will for our lives when we are faced with dark circumstances, such as the sudden loss of a job, the unexpected death of a friend or family member, or the anguish returns over past sins that plague our minds?  Paul tells us that we must take up the Shield of Faith by turning to God, trusting and believing in Him in spite of our circumstances.

MORNING WORSHIP - COMMUNION -- MARCH 5, 2023

This Sunday, we will be celebrating The Lord's Supper in remembrance of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  After the worship song service and opening prayer, Pastor Brian Pinson will provide a brief message about the purpose and meaning of Communion, especially to the believer.  The selected Scriptures will come primarily from                      1 Corinthians 11:23-26, with special emphasis on Verse 26.  As believers, we are to remember the Lord Jesus's sacrifice to redeem us by partaking in The Lord's Supper - "For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes."  To hear more about why we celebrate Communion, please join us to hear this special message.  Communion will be served to believers right after the message to those wanting to participate.  Be prayerful that we will all come with open hearts and open minds as we come to give glory and honor to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for all He accomplished to provide the way for us to be redeemed!  

NOTE:  There will be no Children's Church - the children will remain in the sanctuary with their families to observe the Communion service.

This Sunday, Associate Pastor Craig Ison will be delivering the message "LIVING IN SACRIFICIAL OBEDIENCE", beginning in Romans 12:1-2.  God calls His people to give their lives to Him and be willing to be obedient to His plan for their lives.  There are many examples of sacrificial living in the Bible, but there are also examples in our own lives as well.  Come and find out more about how to live a life of sacrificial obedience to God's plan for you.  Everyone is welcome!!

MORNING WORSHIP AND CHILDREN'S CHURCH - FEBRUARY 12, 2023

This Sunday, Pastor Brian Pinson will complete the last step in the sermon series:  "EMBRACING OUR MISSION".  The last few weeks we learned about how we can "Exalt the Lord" and "Equip the Saints", and now we are focusing on the Great Commission - "Evangelize the Lost" - Part II.  We can find in Matthew 28:18-20 what Jesus said is our primary purpose as a believer, to take the gospel to the whole world, making disciples of those who turn from the their old life to follow Jesus.  This passage of Scripture comes to life the more one studies it - the deeper your understanding of all it is telling us, the more it will transform your life!!!  JESUS is the Source of the Commission, the Sender of the Commission, and the Substance of the Commission.  A disciple can only be transformed to become the likeness of Christ through the continuous and systematic teaching of God's Word - not only knowing His Word but following what His Word teaches us!!! This Sunday, Pastor Brian Pinson will continue with the sermon series "EMBRACE OUR MISSION".  The second part of our VISION STATEMENT is "Equipping the Saints", which will be the focus this week.  God's Word tells us that we are each given special gifts to use for His glory. God has saved us so that He can use us in sharing salvation to all the world.  Understanding His Word and our unique gifts helps us develop into mature Christians, all through the power of the Holy Spirit and all to the glory of God.  The more we understand about who we are in Christ, and what role we play in furthering the Gospel message, the more effective we can be in God's Kingdom work.

This Sunday, Pastor Brian Pinson will continue with the sermon series "EMBRACING OUR MISSION".  The first part of the series teaches us how we are to "Exalt the Lord" in our hearts.  He must take first place in our lives, and as His children, we are called to walk uprightly before God.  His Word is specific on how we are to fulfill God's directives for our lives, and it takes the Holy Spirit living in us to enable us to live out His mission for us.  We must acknowledge His supreme authority over all things, knowing that He will not allow anything in our lives that doesn't have a divine purpose.  We were once children of darkness, but now we are "Ambassadors of His Light"!  Seeing Him as ruler of all creation and keeping Him in our hearts daily allows us to worship Him more deeply in any circumstance.  We exalt Him because He is holy!!!

Happy New Year!!!  God is continuing to bless us to be able to continue doing His Kingdom work!!  

This Sunday, Pastor Brian Pinson will usher in the New Year by starting a new sermon series:  "EMBRACING OUR MISSION".  This sermon series will remind us about WHY we do what we do for the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior.  This 3-part sermon series will take a deeper look into our mission as a church, as well as an individual believer in Jesus.

CHRISTMAS SERVICE

This coming Sunday, we will hold our special Christmas Service.   The greatest gift mankind has ever received is Jesus.  Had He never been born, we would be lost forever in our sins.  Because Jesus was willing to leave Heaven and take on the form of humanity, live a humble life without sin, spread the Good News of salvation, and die a cruel death on the cross ... we have a way back to a right relationship with God!  Without His birth, there would be no salvation plan!

Christmas encourages us to live humble, selfless lives, recognizing our desperate need for a Savior.  Our Savior came in humility to fulfill the will of His Father.  He completed a conscious act of putting Himself in a lowly, servant role for the good of all mankind.  He is our perfect example of how we should strive to live our lives.  Praise God!!!

"Though he was in the form of God, [he] did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.  And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross."  Philippians 2:6-8

Morning Worship and the Children's Christmas Program - Sunday, December 18, 2022

This coming Sunday we will be greatly blessed by the children through the presentation of their Christmas Program.  Children hold a very special place in the heart of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Their hearts are tender and open to receive the message of the Gospel.  

"And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein."

This Sunday, Pastor Brian Pinson will continue the emphasis upon Christmas and its meaning in this week's sermon:  "CHRISTIMAS AND THE MISSION OF CHRIST".  Believers cherish Christmas primarily because of the miraculous birth of Jesus, our Lord and the Savior of the world.  But there is so much more to celebrate!!  Please join us as we dive deeper into the importance of the First Advent of Christ and what blessings Jesus brought to us from God the Father, as we study the Lord's life, mission, and the "why" for His coming.  You can participate in the service in person or online - everyone is welcome!

Morning Worship and Children's Church - December 4, 2022

This Sunday, Pastor Brian Pinson will share with us a beautiful message that is especially relevant at this time of the Advent season.  Taken from John 11, the message will lay out in more detail the purpose of Jesus' birth -- for the salvation of humanity.  He is the Son of God, taking on human flesh, in order to know each of us more intimately.  He knows when we cry out to Him because of our hurts, our pain, our sickness, our grief -- there is not anything we can go through in this life that He has not already experienced ... yet without sin.  He sees our tears, and He fully understands our suffering.  His birth - the First Advent - began the beginning of God's salvation plan for humanity.  We invite you to join us to hear this message - either in person or online - with open minds and open hearts.  As believers, we are reminded to "keep our lights burning brightly" until His Second Advent when we will all go home to be with Him forever.  Everyone is welcome!!!

Morning Worship and Children's Church - Sunday, November 27, 2022

This coming Sunday we will be celebrating The Lord's Supper.  After the music worship and a brief message, we will demonstrate our thankfulness to God for providing us His Son as a sacrifice for our sins.  We partake of Communion to remember Jesus - His body and His blood - given for us on the cross in fullfillment of God's plan for our redemption.  May God fill our hearts with love and gratitude for Who He Is to us as His Children.  Thankfulness should be a daily expression, not just during the Thanksgiving season.  Join us this Sunday as we celebrate Communion. 

Also, please remember in prayer those who are struggling this Thanksgiving -- poverty, grief, depression, isolation, sickness -- and most of all, be kind.  God bless you all this week!!!
