This Sunday, Pastor Brian Pinson will be starting a new sermon series called "The Christian's Call to Arms!". The first sermon in this series is based on Ephesians 6:10 - "Preparing for Battle". As devoted followers of God, we must prepare ourselves to the fight spiritual battles that come against us to test our faith. We can find our battle armour in God's Word and will grow our faith each time we stand in the wisdom of God's messages to us and apply them in our lives.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 tells us:
(3) For although we are walking in the flesh, we do not wage war in a fleshly way, (4) since the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments (5) and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
Jesus gave us a perfect example. Throughout His temptation in Luke 4:1-13, Jesus maintained His integrity by holding firm against all Satan threw at Him by responding to each temptation with the revealed words of God. Because He was tempted as we are, He is able to understand what we face. He is a powerful example of how to overcome the temptations and testing that comes our way.
